Access Control USB Proximity Reader
Reinforce security, improve productivity, and get accurate identification with HP proximity card readers.
Help protect your company’s confidential information and control printing access by requiring users to authenticate at your imaging and printing devices with your existing proximity cards. In the past, the wide variety of proximity cards on the market made it expensive and cumbersome to support authentication via cards. But now, new HP Common Proximity Card Readers offer support for more than 43 card formats in a single card reader.
Solution at a glance
HP proximity card readers are designed for customers seeking to leverage their existing card system for applications beyond physical security. Users can count on easy, error-free identification on both newer and older printing and imaging devices. With the plug-andplay functionality of HP card readers, no additional software is required once you have installed HP Access Control Professional in your network environment. The HP Common USB Proximity Card Reader and HP Common CF Proximity Card Reader are engineered to work with many protocols – and HP offers four additional proximity card readers to offer specialised support for specific classes of cards.
Accurate authentication
Improve productivity with a card reader designed to eliminate errors associated with individual identification. When used as log-on readers, HP proximity card readers even meet HIPAA requirements in the healthcare field. HP proximity card readers, which support both HP and select non-HP devices, communicate to the host through USB or CF using the MFP 24 protocol. USB models of HP proximity card readers emulate a keyboard, keystroking the card’s ID and/or site code to the cursor’s location on the screen.
Wide-ranging, versatile support
HP Common Proximity Card Readers are dual band card readers, capable of reading 125 kHz and 13.56 MHz frequencies simultaneously. Easily configure the readers to read two different card configurations, including frequency, card type, and data formatting. HP proximity card readers are available with either a USB connection for simple connection to newer printers and MFPs, or a CF (serial) connection for compatibility with older printer or MFP models. A flexible design and an articulated cable allow all HP proximity card readers to be placed anywhere on the printing device. If the HP device has a Hardware Integration Pocket (HIP), you can choose to place the reader inside for a seamless look.
